Objective

I created Coming Home To Cancer because my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer when I was 18, just half-way through my first year of college. I searched online for support groups or stories of other people my age who were dealing with a similar situation. I found that there is plenty of writing on the subject for young children and teens, such as at the American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute, and CancerReallySucks.org. As great as these resources are, I couldn't find any information for college-age children who have a parent diagnosed with cancer. 


I've created Coming Home To Cancer because I want to bring awareness to the difficulty of being a college student and having a parent with terminal cancer. I would like to build a network of college students who are in a similar situation so that we can find support in one another. Just knowing that there are other people out there who are going through the same things will help me, and I hope others as well.
